Game Keepers

Detail graphic explaining the features of game keepers

If a trapdoor led to: Awesome

The Game Keeper is what seals the Game Vault and keeps your games safe. When the Game Vault is covered, they create your tabletop by sitting flush with the edges (on a little ledge called a rabbet).

We currently offer two different types of Game Keepers, hardwood leaves and fabric lids.

Hardwood Leaves

Solid hardwood, tongue-and-groove leaves that cover your Game Vault and create your tabletop-- 3 to 10 of them, based on the size of your table. Spring tensioners cleverly ensure the right fit while compensating for the natural expansion and contraction of hardwood through the seasons.

Fabric Lids

These are a one-piece, lightweight, replaceable (not refinishable) alternate Game Keeper. they sit on the Game Vault's rabbet, same as the hardwood leaves. Fabric lids have fabric on one side, and craftboard on the other.

Plush Velvet

Great for small pieces! Velvet makes it hard for them to slide around, yet makes it easy for you to pick them up. This fabric has a nap, and is a little softer than the velveteen. We offer six colors: Pecan, Aubergine, Taupe, Merlot, Cognac, and Navy.

Stretched velveteen

Stretched velveteen as no nap, and cards slide across its surface more easily than the plush velvet. We offer six colors: Navy, Dark Green, Light Burgundy, Dark Burgundy, Royal Blue, and Black.

Speedcloth

Speedcloth is meant for poker players specifically, because cards skip across its surface when dealt. Playing poker on an Inset is more comfortable, and saves the dealer from accidentally dealing cards onto the floor-- the sides of the Game Vault stop those kinds of shenangians. We offer four colors: Burgundy, Green, Blue, and Purple.

Leaves vs. Lids

You can buy leaves AND a lid; you can use leaves OR a lid. Quantum physics are complicated, so let’s just say these two objects cannot occupy the same space at the same time.

Hardwood leaves are a beautiful surface. Those of you who are using your table for dining or desk purposes will definitely appreciate having a hard tabletop to work on. Or maybe you’re covering your minis game so you can play a board game over the top. We won’t judge. (It'd be a bit hypocritical if we did...)

A Fabric Lid is a one-piece, alternate surface to Hardwood Leaves. Perhaps you want a cloth surface for when you play card games. Perhaps this is the only table in your house, and you have noticed that the craftboard back of the Fabric Lid is perfect for hobby-flavored destruction. Paint figs, cut, mark, and paste on this surface, knowing it’s inexpensive to replace. This is the "destroy me" surface! It’s also paint-primed, if you want to make your own game board or terrain.
