The Printing Library
Welcome to the Geek Chic Printing Library!
We here at Geek Chic are printing maps in support of large-scale gaming.
Let's be honest, we sell tables, not maps. But you have illuminated a need: there's no good way for gamers to get a nice, large-scale map without paying the nearest chain print shop a whole lot of money. And that's just not right. It certainly isn't awesome. So in order to make gaming just a little awesomer, we're offering you our resources, and hope that you'll offer us yours-- by helping us make a community map library of board games and multi-purpose terrain.
How It Works
Pick any map, grid, or hex that we offer, in any size we offer, and we'll print it up and mail it to you safely in a tube.
Custom Maps
For the cost of the size of the print, plus $60 per hour of our time, we can print you a custom map. If you're sending us files, realize that not everything looks beautiful at 4'x6'-- so it's possible that what you have won't work, or that we'll have to ask for larger files. Be prepared for some conversation. We like our files at 300 DPI, and we'll want to know what size you want it printed.
The People's Discount
This is meant to be a Community Library. A place where we can come together and share our resources. This means if you make a map that can be posted and shared with our community, we will only charge you the print cost and not any custom or setup fees. We'll ask permission for any map we want to add to the Library-- so don't fear that we'll be selling anything of yours without asking.
Copyrights
If your custom print is under any form of copyright, we cannot print it without permission from the publisher. If the publisher allows printing, great. If they want a royalty, the royalty fee will be charged on top of our regular printing costs.
What They're Made Of
Terrain and board games are printed on white paper.
Grids and hexes are printed on clear acetate, which can be used as a layer over any map.
Care and Feeding
Regarding maps: Place them under the acrylic layer of the Game Vault, where they will remain flat and safe from spills.
Regarding grids and hexes: Please remember that you are dealing with ink on plastic! If you'd like to keep your acetate in good condition, place your grids or hexes ink side down lest they encounter liquid or erasable markers. You can always wipe down the back-- you can't wipe down the front without danger of smudging.
Good advice all around: We recommend keeping the mailing tube you received your map in. At some point, you'll be pulling that map out, and you'll need a place to keep it.
