Geek Chic In Stock Program

We have a handful of furniture that needs good homes!

This is Geek Chic furniture as "off the rack" as it gets. Our Orphaned Orders, Factory Seconds, Overstock, and Show Pieces are still astoundingly good pieces of furniture, handcrafted from fine hardwood-- but as they didn't start custom with you, you can pick one up a little more quickly and often for less.

So here's the deal: You pay the minimum price for the piece, as listed, which reserves it for you. Your Geek Chic valet will contact you in the next several days to walk you through any remaining options available and pre-finalize your order. Within 1-3 weeks, the Shop Liason will contact you to double-check and finalize your order, discuss home delivery, and arrange for payment of the remainder due (options, accessories, printing, home delivery, etc.). Then, after a delightfully reduced wait time of 2-5 months (normally 3-4 months longer) our team will home deliver your furniture to you. It's as easy as that!

Cost-Effective: Pieces are appraised, and then offered at a discount.

Shorter Wait Times: Currently, our clients wait between 2-4 months for construction of their order to begin, with an additional 3-5 months for build and delivery. We can deliver In Stock pieces within 2-5 months total, depending where you live and what is needed (if anything) to finish the piece.

You Still Have Options: Many of these pieces are already built and are sold AS IS. However, you can typically still add on a handful of upgrades like cup holders and game keepers. (See individual pieces for more information).

Alexandria Codex

The Alexandria Codex is a storage system that brings our comic and card collections into the areas we live and gives them a home that befits their importance.

Explanation of grades

Orphaned Orders

Orders that for some reason or another never went home. Usually due to a last-minute upgrade from the client (ex., Ordered an Emissary, decided to upgrade to a Vizier) or a glitch in the system (ex., Ordered 2 drawers, but the table has 6.) All of these tables have passed our top-grade Quality Assurance inspections.

Factory Seconds

Orders that have some sort of minor defect in them. (Major defects get Viking burials.) For example: sapwood visible in dining leaves, some visible filling, or some minor tool marks (frankly, this does happen when furniture is handmade). All of these items are beautiful, durable, handmade, and heirloom quality-- but just missed our Tier 1 Quality Assurance inspections.

Retiring Show Pieces

Pieces that go on the road with us eventually request retirement. They all have names, and we've spent a lot of time together. These Named pieces usually have some authentic battle damage and stories from their years on the road, although we refinish them before they leave for your home. These pieces are for the connoisseur who prefers to own a piece of the Geek Chic roadshow.

Overstock

When maximizing the yield of a board, we are sometimes left with pieces that are only suitable for one type of table. Sometimes we sell these in the normal course of business, but occasionally the parts build up. Overstock refers to these potential pieces that no one has yet ordered. If they are what you need, you can get a significant discount by helping Geek Chic give them a new home. Rustic Overstock includes sapwood (the lighter heartwood of a tree, which provides greater contrast) and/or knots that are larger than 1/8".
