Indexing is the new stacking.

Answering the age old question, "Where do you put the leaves?" the Leaf Block happily holds your leaves while you game. Safely and quickly utilize an out of the way spot to temporarily store your hardwood leaves.

HOW IT WORKS

If you've ever used a knife block before, it's very similar.  Though the hardwood leaves aren't sharp, you still have to be mindful of your surroundings because they are heavier than knives.  If you accidentally miss a knife block, then you stab your counter.  If you accidentally miss the Leaf Block, then you hit the wall, ceiling, or your foot.  So this is just a friendly reminder to use 2 hands, be aware of your surroundings, and don't rush. :)

Pictured above is a set of 5' long oak leaf guards and a set of cherry 4' long hardwood leaves in a small walnut Leaf Block.

As with a knife block, insert your hardwood leaves one at a time into the leaf slots of the Leaf Block.  We recommend starting with a middle slot like so:

And work your way out:

This method most evenly distributes the weight of the hardwood leaves throughout the Leaf Block.

To Remove:  Slightly angle the leaf towards you and lift to remove from the Leaf Block.

Leaf Block FAQ

Q:  How long can you store your leaves in the Leaf Block?

A:  If you are storing your hardwood leaves in an environmentally controlled area, then theoretically you could store your hardwood leaves in the Leaf Block indefinitely.  If you are storing them in an attic, garage, barn, or any other area that is subject to the whims of heat, cold and humidity, then just like your table, you will be at the mercy of reactions to expansion, contraction, and general movement.

Q:  Can two narrow leaves fit side by side in one slot?

A:  No they cannot.  Each slot is 10 3/4" long, which is just enough to safely angle in and out a single leaf of any size.

Q:  What holds the leaves in place?

A:  A custom designed insert of sturdy yet flexible foam (specifically EVA or Ethylene Vinyl Acetate).

Q:  Will the Leaf Block store the pegs and the Leaf Support?

A:  The Leaf Block is designed to store your hardwood leaves, a set of Leaf Guards, and one Leaf Support.  Pegs are swallowable, and should be stored in a place that children and pets do not have access to when they are not in use.

Q:  Why only the two size options? Why not just make it sized to the number of leaves that a person's table has?

A:  2 reasons:

  1. From a production standpoint we want the Leaf block to join our Ready-Made line.  Our goal with Ready-Made is to get all these items to you within 2 weeks from your purchase.
  2. From a pricing standpoint, we want to bring the Leaf Block to you at a reasonable price. That means limiting the sizes and styles to the most popular in order to batch larger quantities while maintaining quality.

Q:  Can you have a custom size made?

A:  Not currently, as this minimally triples the price and makes wait times significantly longer.  We recommend going with the size that will house all your leaves as neither size Leaf Block takes up that much space.

Q:  Can the Leaf Block store rail accessories when not storing the leaves?

A:  Kind of.  The leaf slots are 10 3/4" x 7/8".  So anything smaller, like cup and wine glass holders technically fit.

The smaller items may get their own "accessory's block" someday, but it depends on demand, productive capacity, and cost.  The Leaf Block has been years in the making; for more info, read our Leaf Block blog.

* Problem #17 Answer:  No, the recommended ceiling height is 114".
